Working with the customer-supplied specifications, we coordinated the production, assembly, and finishing of three custom components into the final product highlighted here.
Using cold rolled sheet steel for its easy workability and excellent strength-to-weight ratio, primary blanking, piercing, and forming operations took place on our 60, 50, and 27 ton punch presses. After welding the assembly together, we applied a black organic painted finish and then marked the tray with white lettering. The tray featured finished dimensions of 4.38” in length x 3.1” in width, and both in-process and final dimensional inspections validated we met the ±.008” tolerance requirement.
We produced 500 units within a 5-6 week turnaround time. These splice trays are now in the field providing protection and organization of fiber splices, and the high quality marking is assured to remain legible to ensure proper identification of routing configurations.
