We manufactured the bracket highlighted here as one component of a bow press, a portable device used by hunters to disassemble archery equipment in the field.
Material of construction was annealed spring steel, chosen for its ability to endure significant bending or twisting and return to its original shape without deforming or distorting.
Spring steel presents a degree of difficulty to form, so we had to take precautions not to stress it beyond its yield point. We used various operations and tool setups on four different presses to form the workpiece, which we then deburred prior to heat treating to RC 44-47 temper for additional hardness. Black oxide plating provided a corrosion resistant finish with added lubricity to facilitate operation.
Featuring finished dimensions of 4.378” in length x 2.063” in width x 1.255” in height, numerous quality assurance process ensured dimensional and material integrity. An efficient yet comprehensive project plan combined with minimal set up requirements allowed us to manufacture 3,000 units in a 4 week timeframe.
