Each year, the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), sponsored by HPL Stampings, recognizes a company’s noteworthy efforts in strengthening its’ employees capabilities through ongoing training and education.
Dedicated to the memory of HPL Stamping’s co-founder, A.R. (Ray) Hedberg, the A.R. Hedberg Training & Education Award focuses on the high standards of achievement set by the industry in a wide range of areas: design, innovation & technology, quality, safety, process control, product development and productivity. PMA’s Awards Judging Task Force has selected DeWys Manufacturing Inc. in Marne, MI as the 2016 winner.
Recognizing Commendable Efforts in Training & Education
Established in 1977, DeWys Manufacturing’s original one-man metal shop fabricated fireplace inserts, racks and various small metal parts. Nearly 40 years later, the lean manufacturing company now employs over 150 workers, serving 11 different industries and over 160 different clients across the US. DeWys Manufacturing’s services and capabilities include laser cutting, turret punching, metal forming & bending and much more.
In terms of making efforts in training and education, DeWys Manufacturing collaborated with its engineering team to innovate its welding facility and add more weld booth capabilities. As a result, the improvements have allowed for a stronger work environment and a more efficient product flow by increasing overall employee productivity.
This Year’s Award Ceremony
The winning entry receives a commemorative plaque and a $1,500 cash prize presented to an educational institution of the recipient’s choice that provides coursework directly enhancing metalforming technology.
This year’s awards ceremony is set for Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV (immediately prior to FABTECH, which takes place November 16-18). HPL Stamping President Butch Hedberg will be in attendance.
